Mayo! My favorite Whole30 Staple
So it’s been awhile. Sorry about that. You may notice things look a bit different around here. Let me just say, technology is hard! Coming from someone who held out as long as she could not getting an Iphone building a website is tricky… and time consuming. But anyways, I’ve just about got it done so I hope you like the new look!
On to the good stuff…Mayo! This is my #1 Whole30 hack. I could add this mayo to every meal. I use it as a dipping sauce, as a spread, I make it into buffalo dip, and ranch dressing. The store bought Whole30 approved mayo is good and very convenient, but also pretty pricey. There are tons of mayo recipes out there but my mayo has three ingredients and takes less than 5 minutes. So so good!
It does contain raw egg, so there is some risk. For me, the risk is worth the reward.
- 1 egg
- 1 TBS white vinegar
- 1 C. light flavored olive oil (avocado oil works well too)
- In a mason/ball jar add your egg, white vinegar, and oil (in that order). Make sure only half the far is full, the mayo will expand as your blend it.
- Using an immersion blender, start with your blender firmly on the bottom of the glass and blend for 10 seconds. Then slowly pull the immersion blender to the top. At this point your mayo should start to thicken. Pulse the immersion blender up and down a handful of times until everything is well blended.
- Put a lid on it and store in the fridge up to a week.
